I don't think disassembling an engine is great for beginners, yet it is covered in the Haynes book.TRuFLiPpeR said:changing the timing belt itself isn't that hard, but it's putting it all back together that could get intimidating. remember, anytime you mess with the timing, you better be sure you know what you're doing. remember the timing marks and get a good strap wrench to hold down the crank so you don't move the piston from TDC. as with the water pump recommendation, that's a good idea. i would also recommend the oil pump since it's basically in the same area. if you're not too comfortable with timing though, just take it to a shop. one lil' degree can really mess you up, then your problem will be even bigger. oh, and haynes manuals are great for beginners, but they suck for pretty much everybody else.

My book says 90,000 miles. I think that is around where I had mine changed, maybe less.95GS-R said:I believe the Honda recommended interval to have the timing belt replaced is 60,000 miles
