where exactly and how do I get the governor off my 98 civic hatch? It's just a weak little 1.6 , but I need to get it off so until I can get my new engine I won't be punked out by every other kid with a 1.6

Which governor?

If you are refferring to the speed governor - then it is at 120 - and you are a fucking idiot if you are racing someone up to that speed - and it would take a DX about 45 minutes to get up to 120 anyway.

If you are talking about the rev limiter- then you dont need to go over 7200 fuel cutoff point. The DX engine isn't going to be making anymore power in higher revs anyway.

If you REALLY want to remove the speed governor and/or your fuel cutoff point, then you are going to have to spend some money. OBDII ecu's cannot be chipped - so you will have to buy an OBDI ecu, have it chipped, then buy an OBDII to OBDI conversion harness. Total about 500 bucks.

I would suggest that you work with what you have for now - spending that kind of money just for playing around 'before you get your new engine" would be a waste.

120 runs are stupid, i used to do them i think i did 4 total, but it only hurts your engine staying in those high revs for that duration of time to get it up to 120. then what if someone pulls out? or you blow a tire? kiss your ass goodbye.
