Hi, i am new to this board. I just bought a 2005 4 door honda civic LX (automatic) three weeks ago. It has around 300 miles so far. . So i put my key in, drive around for awhile, then stop and turn the engine off. Then i hear this clicking sound in my engine. It makes a "click" sound every few seconds then it stops. It stops completely after 45 seconds or so. My friend said may be the engine is cooling down or something,, he is not sure about it... Do u know what is the problem is before i take the problem back to my honda dealer? thanks

It's just the hot metal cooling down. No need to wory.
Exactly. Actually it's your block getting microscopic cracks
in it, from what I've read, every time you hear a "ting"
type of sound. Totally normal. Mine's close to 41,000, and
it doesn't do that anymore. Was pretty annoying when it
was new, though.

Microscopic cracks? I certainly hope you are wrong. Doesn't sound too believable to me. My old engine has 102k and it did the clicky thing....and my new one with 55k miles does the same thing.

If its coming from the head of the block area .. then its prob. your valves. They prob. need to be adjusted. and clicking I dont think is ever a good thing.
