I just got done putting some OEM plates and bearings in my Civic. The flywheel was turned as well.

After not responding to me while I was doing the work and to my questions, my friend says I now need to re-do my work as I did not locktite the flywheel threads and didn't grease the mainshaft around where the release bearing slides. Does anyone else do this to the flywheel threads? What about the mainshaft grease? I can grease the mainshaft I think without taking it all back apart. I get extra noise from the tranny/clutch area when in neutral and the clutch out. The noise disappears when I push in the clutch. My thinking is that it's my tranny since a new clutch did not fix and it's only when in neutral with the clutch out. The release braing isn't making contact with anything moving at that point right?? My friends still seems to think it's my release bearing since I didn't grease the shaft.

Yeah, the more and more I think about it, the more I realise I should just do it. It's the fact of not having the tranny jack is a big one...now that I have done it, I think I could cut my work time in half at least...but not being a mechanic... :)

That was part of my point though. It only makes the noise (that I know of) when in neutral and my foot is off the pedal. So the release bearing should be all the way released and not spinning or making contact with anything other than the mainshaft while it just sits there waiting for the clutch to be engaged again. Right??

Yeah, I made a tranny jack for a small 2 ton jack but it's stil such a... :) So I figure it out I guess and do it again. Had to make a flywheel tool. It works like a chram. Maybe I'll do the rear main too. Thanks.
