Considering about moving on! (need opinions)

Hey guys whats up? I have a 97 Prelude SS right now. I got it Jan 01. I'm thinking about getting rid of it. I got in a huge accident about a month and a half ago where some guy rear ended me while i was stopped, he was going about 40 mph. Damage was a little under $9000.00. I just got it back from the shop about two weeks ago. The shop did a great job and everything but knowing that my lude got messed up that bad, it's just not the same. You can't even tell it was in an accident but it's just not like it used to be. No car is the same after a huge accident. I know that if i keep it, it's going to have lots of problems after a while.

What i want to get is an Acura RSX. I love those cars. I want to get a type S. Now i'm not planning on doing this now, i'm thinking about early spring or sometime in the summer. I kind of want a used one because i don't think i can afford a brand new one. But i don't know if there'll be many used ones by then and in the $18000 range.

What do you guys think? Should i go ahead and get an RSX or keep the lude? Now remeber its had $9000 worth of damage on it already, and it's an SS (which isn't the biggest reason i want to get rid of it).

Also i wanted to ask: If i don't get a Type S, but i get just a regular one that is also an SS, does anyone know if their fast. I know they only have 160 hp. I'm pretty sure, but just to make sure, is it slower than the lude?

Thanks a lot. I know it's long.

I just recently got into an accident as well...just body work and painting needs to be done...but honestly I think its good for me. I won't be so anal about my car now. I still will but atleast I get to throw on a body kit, shave the emblems...and have a sweet looking car. I think I would keep it. My friend has an rsx type S and its not as fun as the lude.

Honestly I am dying for a RWD car...screw this fwd shit.
RSX SS is definitely not as fast as your Prelude. The RSX Type S will definitely be faster than your automatic Prelude. Great car, I'll be surprise you will find one at the price you want anytime soon.

I don't think RSX Type S will depreciate to 18K by summer.

hahaha...i feel the same way...but they are quick tho, and get extremely good gains from bolt ons..
I think the RSX looks ill, especially with a kit etc.
I know I'm going to get flamed for saying this but have you looked into the old school MR2's. Before they shrunk the thing. You can make those fast as F*CK with a better turbo and downpipe. And you have a MR car. And no one drives them. Just a thought. Oh you can get them much cheaper than 18,000. Heck with that much you could have that things engine built up so stout with that much $.

If I could do it again that would be the car I would have gotten.

Peace

for sure man, mr2s are the SHIZNIT!!! not the recent one, but the previous generation turbo is quick as hell. they are RWD mid-engine, LSD, and run mid to low 14s stock. GET ONE!!! heh,, thats my next car!
I did about 10,000 worth of damage , everything looks and fits right , but i did have to go back 2 times to get some things smoothed out.....the motor mounts , and the front lower sway bar was on backwards!!! YIKES....

Car was trued on a chassis straightner....all i need now is to get a wheel alignment.

You see what i'm talking about, a lot of work and shit after a big crash. That's why i want to get rid of it. I don't want to go through all that shit.

Clould7: So do you like your type-s? What do you like/dont like about it? How much is your monthly payments? I'm thinking about getting a new one but i cant afford more than 400-450 a month. You think i'll make it?

I like the Mr2's too, but i dont want an old car. I want a newer/more recent car. I guess newer than a 97.

Oh, just to make sure, is the RSX a front or rear wheel drive car? I believe it's front.
Yeah

How did that go anyways? Did you end up getting a sweet settlement outta tha deal?

Personally I'd find a nice SC 400 or 300 Lex circa 93-97. Theres this one SC 300 TT I saw in a mpeg take 2 RX7s and a Viper in a street race. I guess it has around 700 whp and 600 ft lbs according to turboimports.com or some shite. If you want the movie I can e-mail it if you can take huge files.

Or get a RSX but i'd only go type S if you could pull it off.

Out
That sucks man, it's too bad you got rear ended, if I was in your shoes i'd get a type-s. I don't like the look as much but it's growing on me..... a little. If you do get it there is one mod you must do before anything else.... DUMP the bitch lower and get a nice clean body kit, like form the factory that will do wonders for the looks of the car.

As for performance, well we all know it's a solid performer, most hondas are

The RSX Type S is a great car. The fact that this is the first year the car is available means there are bound to be some bug... come to the RSX forum (hidden in the Integra forum) if you really want to know the problems I've had with it. People say it looks like a Civic coupe but somehow everybody wants to take a peek at my car means that they know that it is not an ordinary car. My payments are really low ($350 Canadian/month) because I put down a big downpayment on it. Your monthly payment really depends on how much you borrow and how long your financing term is...
i dont like the way they look. i think u should keep your car or sell it and get another lude if u really dont want that lude.

Yeah, i didn't like how they looked much at first but now i love them. And yes, you're right, they do look awesome with the body kit. I just don't think i can afford it. It's much cheaper if i get an rsx without a body kit and put any aftermarket one on.
