Ya I have an idea

Name your threads better
it was to get peoples attention.
thanks for the help though
The A/F gauge is supposed to do that.......Unless your talking about when your WOT then that's messed up.
yeh thats what im talking about. when im WOT it happens....
Vacuum leak?..just an "idea", but my old Cutlass had the
same symptoms your're basically descibing. As it turned out,
this "shade-tree mechanic" that worked on it previously
had disconnected some lines to get to an area underneath
them, then "forgot!" to reconnect them. Anyway, just something
to check, for free.
Also, a clogged fuel filter? A fuel pump about to go, maybe?
I'm not as smart as some other people on here, but a more
thorough description of your vehicle might perhaps
intice them to comment on a possible cause.
vaccum leak? thats weird u said that cuz i just put in a vac gauge and it leaks sometimes... do u really think that could cause that much damage?
Vacuum leaks WILL FUCK U UP!

Hey, another one I "came across": I bought an '84 Celica a
few years back for $600.00, no smoke, no leaks, 285,000mi.
Anyway, I go to change the oil about a week later, as a "safe-
than-sorry" measure, and noticed a piece of wood in the
manifold area. Well, I thought, that's BS, and threw it away.
Next thing I know, the bitch wouldn't idle, without "dying" or
adding throttle pressure. I examined the Haynes manual I'd
gotten with the oil, and, as it turned out, the previous owner
was just "side-skirting" the emmisions with this "jury-rigged"
device. So, after I replaced the "piece-o-wood" with a nice
rubber stopper, (a coffee filter "grabber", $1.49.00), the car
ran perfect. But, just something to check, for free, like I
mentioned. Also, if you'd describe your vehicle in detail, you're
likely to get "more informed" opinions on the matter.

ok heres the details. months ago the car ran great. then out of the blue this spuddering and massive loss of power happens. i change the ecu and put the stock one back in. it runs good for a while. then the car fuks up again, so i buy a ZC ecu and the car ran the best its ever had. then little spuddering happens then it progresses, BUT HERES THE THING. if the cars starts to run like shit , i take it on the highway, go wot in forth and fifth for a while and then it starts to run good.
could it be the vac? fuel? timing?

Check your ignition system. Any error codes from the
new ECU? I still think/sounds like something simple, though.
You've been "changing out" alot of vital "shit" there, though.
I'd get it tuned by a pro myself, just for the "piece-o-mind" factor :D.
PS - Have you reset the ECU? I know this isn't it, but who
knows..? Any "pros" out there? I don't know shit, and I'd
really hate to steer this guy in the "wrong direction"; (I've
been there myself :D). The ECU not hooked up properly,
maybe?
I feel that it might be something simple. But then it can be anything. You should check the codes. The ecu should throw one. Can be vacuum, ignition (distributor), or maybe even your fuel pump. It could be going out and not supplying your motor with fuel at times hence the sputtering. I know it's a biatch when you just don't what it is, but that's how it is when we don't buy fricken brand new:D . Hope you find the problem.
thats the thing, the ecu isnt throwing any codes and i was just fucking around and put it into third gear going like 10 mph and floored it, its susposed to slowly and steadily accelerate but instead it breaks up and looses power for breif periods of time. this is pissing me off i cant find out whats wrong with it. some days it will run fine and other days the car takes a shit on me
