I am looking into getting cams for my 96 GSR, and I am curious which out of the Crower 63403 and Skunk2 stage 2's would make more power. I realize that for either of those I will have to upgrade my valvetrain, and get like a VAFC also. Would I have to raise my redline for those, and if I do what should I raise it too. Thanks.

From the numbers each of them give it appears the crower cams are a more aggressive cam. You will probably see more gains out of them and they have the dyno to prove it. They seemed to make 22hp on the GSR they tested. I don't think it would be necessary to raise your redline because if you look at the DYNO chart below you can see how the power dies off around 8000 rpm.

I would go with Skunk, Toda, Jun, and ITR/CTR before I would even touch the Crower's. Heard too many horror stories of the cams breaking in the head and I know that it could be b/c of improper installation but it's just that I don't know why all the improper installs would happen to be with Crower.

Myself, I will be running an ITR exhaust cam and a Jun 2 intake cam.

Makes me think twice. Hope that helps.
