recently my alternator was putting out less than tweleve volts. i changed it and now output is 14. i had to remove the instake to get at it and when I put everything back together and start the car the rpms run up to 3 - 3,500. the engine will not idle normal. i disconnected the evac and reset the ecu and no change. I tried using a resistor in place of the ecu and no change. it is not a binding linkage or stuck throttel as all that funtions fine. it seems like the ecu is telling the engine to rev. anyone have any suggestions?

Check the fast idle valve maybe it came loose i recently had this problem i had my throttle body off and shook it and wondered what the hell it was. the fast idle valve was loose I just blocked it off just open up the throttle body and find it and screw it back down that's most likely your problem you might have to fidle with the adjustment screw on the throttle body as well hope this helps
