actually the way to make your car rev the fastest is. . .
well what im telling you is a secret ok, so dont tell anyone.
remove your piston rings, and that motor will rev like no ones bussiness, either that or cut your rods by one inch.

dude i was just joking.
if you took them off you would have little to no compression and that would cause nearly ZERO horse power. the added effect would be that it get rid of the resistance in the motor so it would probably rev like mad crazy, that is if the thing would run with all the oil getting on the spark plugs.

actually i have also thought about this and a d15 does rev faster stock for stock than any stock b series due to the lighter and smaller pistons and rods. It could help when racing a d16 powered car and we have used them often. In a 91 HF we ran a d15b2 with si injection and a dx tranny and ran 15.4 with it. This may be due to the faster ervs but i dont think it has any if much HP benifits

I really don't think there is a diffrenece between the d and b engines as for revving up faster. maybe you got lucky and got a better balanced engine. This will help along with a lighter flywheel. Now the DOHC engines do rev faster than the SOHC's due to less resistance on the valvetrain (16 valves to one cam vs. 8 valves on one cam (dual cams)).
By the way, I can not believe someone did not get the joke about the piston rings! LOL!! I hope they don't work at a garage or something...LOL:p

not trying to start an argument here... but one could argue that the d-series would rev faster because there's only one cam instead of two... that's alot less mass than two cams...
but then again who really cares? put a really light flywheel on either and valvetrain resistance becomes a moot point if we're keeping the stock rev limiter...
