You need the ECU for the b16, can't use the d16 one. Mainly cause redline is different, and also your engine wouldn't recieve enough fuel. By the way what year is your d16? Are you going OBD1 or OBD2?
Not lots of difference between b16 VTEC and b18 VTEC, except the B18C1 definitely requires the P72 ECU unless you change the intake manifold to a B16 or Type R without the secondary butterflies.

If you have a 92-95 or earlier d16z6, you can use your P28 ecu just get a chip or reprogram for the fuel and to remove the rev limiter. People use that all the time.

Is your D16 a VTEC or not? What year?
Silly me......

oops, i guess it may help to tell you its a D16Y1 single overhead cam Vtec in a 92-95 Civic. can someone tell me if the B18C will mount straight in or not? Ive heard alot of different things, could someone tell me some facts please. Is it just a unbolt and bolt in process? Thanx.:D
Yep, any B-series with hydro-tranny will mount in, just make sure you have the motor mounts from the donor car too.

You need motor/trans/axles/mounts/shift linkage...and preferably ECU and harness.

Sorry, silly me didn't notice you were from Australia, I could've guessed you had some different engines. We don't have a d16y1 here so I can't speak on the compatability of the ECu from your motor to a B18.
Thanx mate, yeah, because we got different engine codes in Australia it took me awhile to work out some of the stuff you guys were talking about on these forums. I think its funny how we get different things but it sucks that we miss out on all the good things that the japs get. still i was reading in Hot Compact & Imports that some of you guys in the States are going crazy trying to sorce out true JDM parts some of which we got on our Australian delivered hondas. Just little things like, the orange side marker indicators and front orange indicator covers, the gauge cluster, the orange digital clock in the dash on some models, the tail lights have no reflectors-jdm tail lights, the type R seats and i think we got a different front bar too on the civics. I find it a little funny though because most of the stuff mentioned above we toss in the garage for aftermarket stuff! Hey, but Ill trade it all in for one of those awsome bodykits you guys have!! the only kits that we have only just come on to the market over here is a ground designs kit which is quite nice and a black widow kit. But they want...and get this....$4000 australian for it!! Thats, front/back bumper, side skirts and like these little fender flairs that tack on to youre gaurds!! Well just a little Australian knowledge for ya, out of interest, how much do you guys pay for such a kit?

thats like what, 2K american dollars... not too bad considering shipping is probably some major bucks. which i would never spend that much on just a body kit though...
