Alright guys/girls, first time post and ive got a weird question ive been thinking about. Im not best with engiens, more of custom work so help me out.

Would it be possible cus I have heard there is a d17 out on the what 2000 civics? Or something like that. Would it be possible to put it into my sol? Have to change the head or something.. cus after 95 they went to obdII? Or would it just be better to stick with a d16z6? Any help would be nice.

Ah yes before I forget. Proud owener of a 95 del sol s. Do not have a picture of it right now have had it for five months. I would feel weird posting a picutre of a five color car. (In the middle of body work) Will get one up soon though. Thanks for any help i get.

yes, there is a d17. sohc vtec. it is possible to put it into your sol. obd2 started in 96. youd be better off sticking with a d16z6, but the 'S' model only comes with d15b7. are you sure you don't have a Si? if you haVE a d15 and youre wondering which one to swap, get the d16z6. itll be cheaper and easier to find parts for. and i dont think the d17 makes any more hp than the z6 anyways. if you have a d15 and you want to swap either of these motors, youll need a vtec solenoid and a different ECU in addition to the motor/head.

yeah sniperfox basically covered it, however i dont think hmotors sells sohc motors, except the d15 and zc. unless they just started lately because i searched forever for a site that sold them and could never find one. maybe im wrong lol but yeah i agree just do a d16z6 swap, alot easier with same results ;)

Yeah i have the base model sol, im sure of that. eh non-vtec :( Thus why i want teh changed. The only reason i really brought up the d17 is because i heard its a good setup for boost with the intake manifold being setup as it is. (downfall it being plastic). If I could find a non-plastic version of the d17 intake manifold, would that fight to a d16 motor?

ive never heard of anything like that. honestly i dont think the mani would make that much of a difference. im not sure whether they mate up or not. i just did some searching on where to get a good d16z6 swap and the only result i found was ebay. just do your homework and read if you buy a swap off of ebay. thats all i have to say about that. d16z6 is great for boost. hah. i would know.

if you want, you could just buy a z6 head and swap it right onto your d15. switch the ecu and put on a vtec solenoid and you get d15z6. :lol2 i saw a complete z6 head for sale on ebay. for like fifty bucks. shipped. :ninja that should get you close to 125hp
