Does silencer on exhaust affect performance?

Does a seperate silencer added onto an aftermarket cat back system have any affect on performance? Will it decrease the exhaust flow rate thus decreasing performance as well?

It will create a little backpressure, but you could always remove it.

a little bit, but what would u rather have a car that sounds loud as hell without silencer, or a car that sounds low and mellow with the silencer??

It might reduce your top end power a little bit, but could also improve yoru low end power a little bit as well.
