dome light?

1092 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  cryogen97
Hey guys,

I've got a weird problem. My dome light works when I turn it "on" (meaning fuse and bulb are just fine). But when I open the door and the dome light switch is in the "door" position", it doesn't work. Door switches are good, 'cuz each individual door light ("courtesy lights") works when that door is open, and I see the door indicator working on the instrument panel.

Recently, I installed my own alarm, and after that was when the dome light stopped working right. The alarm can trigger the dome light just fine (lights up upon disarming). Just that the door switch alone does not work. What's wrong? (and how might I fix it?)

thanx,

-Bryan

Did you just T-tap the dome light wire, or did you run it to the alarm?
hey cryogen,

yeah, I t-tapped the dome light wire in the passenger side fuse box (and ran that wire to the alarm unit). if it makes any difference, I tested the wire first, using a small computer fan (my mom threw away my meter, so I needed to make do with what I had!).

thanx,

-Bryan
well then, you might have a loose connecions somewhere beween where you taped the wire and the dome light. make sure that the switch is still working. Arm the alarm, unlock the door, and open it. That way you can at least rule out everything up to where you T-tapped it.
