Drag III reliability

1015 Views 9 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  00B16A2
I need to know if the Drag III kit for the Civic Si is reliable for daily driving(approx. 400 miles per week). I have the kit for sale, but if I do not sell it, I'm just going to install it. I plan on running 9psi. I got the Tial wastegate, colder plugs, VAFC, Vortech FMU, and 310cc injectors. Any other suggestions?? If anyone wants to pick it up, I will let it go for a reasonable price. I have a full parts listing in the classified section. Thanks for your feedback.

What reliability? I've owned a turbo car before and it definetly wasn't reliable. Some people may say that if you tune it and all and be careful with it, but i mean cmon seriously. If you want reliability just stick with a stock car.
What problems did you have and on what car???
Depends how much boost you run, stick within the parameters look after your engine should be good, I mean of course it will take some time off your engine, you just increased the performance by x amount...depends what you want but it should last a few years well cared for.
slap it on!!!!!dont sell it!! you bought the kit so you can have more speed. now that you bought it you worry about reliable. just boost like 4psi. then save up and get some pistons and rods. tune it and you'll be ok. you'll regret it if you sell it.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!! ALL OF MY FRIENDS TELL THAT I'M CRAZY FOR THINKING ABOUT SELLING IT BECAUSE IT'S A DOPE KIT AND I'M GOING TO LOSE A LOT OF MONEY TOO. MY FRIEND HIT 12.8 ON A STOCK BLOCK WITH THIS KIT(APPROX. 10 PSI)!!!!!!! THEN HE GOT TOO BOOST HAPPY AND BLEW THE MOTOR.
you need control man. just dont listen to people taht tell you to boost too much 10 should be max. i would run 9 max... not even probably 8 max. dont get boost happy!! simple...!

I AGREE. IF I END UP INSTALLING THE KT, 9PSI WOULD BE THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF BOOST. I BABY THE HELL OUT OF MY CAR. I DO NOT EVEN RACE IT. I JUST LOVE THE ADDITIONAL POWER FOR THE OPEN HIGHWAYS...... YA KNOW.

your friend who blew his motor.. did he have forged pistons, rods or intercooler or anything? And how much boost was he running when he blew it?

HE HAD A STOCK B16, RUNNING AROUND 10-12LBS OF BOOST. HE HAD A DRAG III KIT WITH FRONT-MOUNT INTERCOOLER, TURBONETICS TURBO, HKS SUPER-SEQUENTIAL BOV, ETC. ETC. HE WAS RUNNING CONSISTENT 12.8, THEN HE OVER DID IT AND BLEW IT. HE REBUILT THE MOTOR, HIT 11.2 THEN TOOK THE CAR APART AND SOLD IT. IT'S A DAMN SHAME, BECAUSE HE DIDN'T EVEN TAKE THE CAR TO ITS FULL POTENTIAL WITH THE BUILT MOTOR(JE PISTONS, CROWER RODS, AND MUCH MUCH MORE). HE SIMPLY GAVE UP. HE WANTED TO HIT 11'S AND THE FIRST TIME HE DID, HE CALLED IT QUITS.
