engine idles erradically

damn, its good to be back here, its about fucking time this shit was up, i didnt even know it was up yet because i had my homepage set to superhonda.org/board, and they changed it to superhonda.org/forum Fuckers!

anyway, i have asked this question before but never really got an answer that helped me, so im gonna try my luck and ask it again.

Awhile back, after i did the coolant bypass mod, my car's idle started bouncing around up, down, up, down, up, down... and so i undid the coolant bypass mod and my car was still doing it. It eventually got worse, my car only used to do it when it was cold and idleing, after it warmed up, it stopped. Eventually, it started doing it ALL of the time, even when it was fully warm, as sooon as i would come to a stop, it would start up again. And by this time it was really loud. I tried bleeding the coolant, but that didnt help. I finally shelled out 150 dollars for an IAC valve, and that helped ALOT, it stopped idleing bad all of the time, and now its back to idleing bad when its cold and stops when it warms up. Since then ive tried bleeding the coolant many different times, and have even filled the coolant level like the honda mechanic said to, because he said that being low in coolant just a little bit could cause that.

It still didnt help. What i was wondering is if any of you have or have had this exact same problem with idleing, and how did you fix it? I think i read somewhere that i should jack the front of my car up about 6 inches then try bleeding it again. I dont fucking know what to do, its driving me nuts. Is there another part that could cause this? I know my air filter isnt dirty, i just cleaned it. I remember that i ripped the gasket between the TB and the intake manifold when i took the TB off one day, but if that was it, it would do it all of the time not just when its cold, right? Man, PLEASE help a fellow soler, im gonna flip out!

Yet mine did it and i had to get a new thermostat and radiator
so it could be a faulty thermostat? thats not bad, but i dont want to have to replace the radiator :( my momma says that brand new radiators are the devil! (or at least the prices that they charge for them are).
I had the same problem once, and it turned out to just be vacum hose that disconnected itself, I dont even remember which hose it was. But now its happeneing to me again, and really bad, and ive checked all my hose connections and there all good. Anobody ever hear of a clogged hose causing this problem?
And if it was a thermostat i would be noticing a difference on my temp gauge right?
check you cold starter valve, when you do the coolant bypass they tend to either close or open up creating a rough idle or high rpm in idle
yeah i was thinking it probably isnt my thermostat either cuz my car heats up fast and really well and i never overheat.

so if it was my cold starter valve, would i have to replace it, or could i just open/close something on it like you suggested to get it working again? And if i did have to buy a new one, do you happen to know how much they run on average?

no idea how much they cost i´ve always fixed mine
Well, I don't know how much a thermostat is actully going to control the idle of your car....but anyway, this is what you should do....pick up some carb cleaner and pull you TPS (trottle position sensor) off the throttle body and just clean the inside of that up..or shoot some cleaner into the throttle body, making sure you get the tps a little bit...this does work...I know a few people that have done it when there cars idle like that.
can someone explain why the radiator or therm. would affect the idle speed?

I was also wondering this, there was something wrong with my radiator when this started happening to me. And also when my radioator was low, it started happening.
my sol was doing the exact same thing cold or warm and man was it annoying. i took it to the shop and my mechanic fixed it. said it was a bad cold idle something. heh.
