Single Player wise I'd have to say Final Fantasy for the NES, i don't think i've ever spent so much time sitting infront of the tv back in jr high playing that game.

One of my favorite PC LAN games were X-Wing vs Tie Fighters (You have to know how it plays when you're playin 8 players)

Another World was definitely a breakthrough game. One of the first nice games that used 256 colors. WOW I still have it loaded up, I love watching the intro from it once a while. Those were some good times. Some good games were created in early 90s, all you see now is 95% CGI and 5% gameplay and that just sucks. And check this out, Another World had about 8 full hours of gameplay (with no mistakes), it had a nice intro, nice ending, excellent music (for the time), and it still fit completely on one floppy.

I need to throw in Rise of the Dragon(PC, Sega CD), now that was a badass game! It was set in a futuristic BladeRunner-esque world...

one of the first games I played with a good deal of cussing in it...
