Hi Guys..
It´s time to think for me....
Next weekend I go to see some cars.

One of them is a Prelude '92
I don´t know exact model and engine, it has 85.000km, some of the answers in my first post say that '92 Lude don´t have V-Tech, in this site http://prelude.vtec.net/gen4/ I find that Power (SAE net) ( S 135 bhp @ 5200 rpm) ( Si 160 bhp @ 5800 rpm) and ( V-Tech 190 bhp @ 6800 rpm) , it correct?

The other is a Mazda MX3 GS '95 (1.8 V6)
This car have 70.000 Km, and the information I see in spec. sites, Horsepower SAE net 128 @ 6500 rpm .

Now the question :)

The two cars has almost the same price (2nd hand) and (if the Lude is an S model), almost the same power.

What do you think it´s the best choise?
I love Honda´s and 4th Gen Prelude, is most beauty than the Mx3, but at he moment the only Lude V-Tech I found, and I know it´s a V-Tech, is almost 3600$ more than the others

Please help me, I´m realy confused about this and don´t know what to do....

Thanks for your advices.

If I were you and had the current options I would go for the prelude unless it's one of these two things (auto or an S model) if it's either your better off looking somewhere else. If you save up the vtec is without a doubt the best car. But if money is a big issue at the moment go for the Si (if it is an si) but info for you the honda auto sucks a big one, stay away from it. Also if you want more info on the motors I posted up a sticky on the board I'm on. Just look in my sig for the website.

Peace

The only thing I know that is a ´92 manual Lude, perhaps tomorrow I know exactly what is the model but only next weekend I´go to see it.
Well, if I understand, you think it´s better the Lude than the Mx3, even if the lude is the S model and is 3 years older and have aprox 10000Km more..... it´s right?

Thanks again.

Without a doubt the lude is better. I have raced two MX3's and they didn't stand a chance and that was before I got my intake. Now I don't think I'd even have to try. I mean the MX3's might weight less but the lude makes up for it, and that's not even going into the handling on a lude. But if money is a really big deal for you the insurance is going to be more on the lude. You might also want to think about that. But if it's an S model I wouldn't get it. Look for something else.

Peace

your hp figures are correct.

the prelude si is a great engine to turbocharge... and the vtec is a great motor if u wanna go an all motor beast. of course, u can still turbocharge the vtec but it will cost more to get everything right with the vtec/turbo overlap.

IMO, the prelude in general has much better potential than the mx. the mx's i've driven have been pretty gutless even with turbo. and the prelude's look better too... girls like to ride in preludes, whereas they'd love to have an mx :p

one last thing, DONT get the S model prelude... it's not worth it.. if u have to choose between prelude S and the mx, i'd choose the mx.

okay...,

yah, i'd have to say stay away from a honda auto tranny if ur gonna be racing or even beating on ur car. if its a Prelude S , i say get the mazda,(its a tyte car , and its light), but if its an si - 160hp or a VTEC - 190-195? (not positive) GET IT. the 4gen ludes are gettin quite rare, and they're fast!

HAHA thanks guys, now I feel like a SOL cause I just bought a Prelude S auto. I agree the power is sort of a disappointment, but its good enough for now. As soon as I get enough $$ Im going to try to drop an H22a in there.
damn ... you're better off selling it and buying the H22A... your auto tranny wont support the h22a motor, and it's an expensive swap to manual, and the engine swap is expensive too...

one problem

those specs you quoted in the first post were a little off....I checked the link so I know it wasn't your fault. None of the horsepower specs should be in brake horsepower, they should be in just plain old hp at the crank. Too bad huh?

go with the lude instead of the mx3. but if i were you i would wait until i find an si because the s is too slow. and the 92 ludes are not vtec.

some think rebuilding the engine makes it run like new.
