I have a 93 del sol, and I am putting a first generation JDM b16 in in..I allready have the hydro to cable conversion for it and the engine is coming in any day now...does anyone have a sol with this engine in it...and how much of a bitch was it to have it done??

Where did you manage to find a hydro to cable clutch conversion kit? I've heard that these are REALLY difficult to find. Was it seriously expensive?

I know the price between the SiR1 and SiR2 (B16A1 to B16A2) is about $1000, is the clutch kit enough to make up the difference in time/material costs?

its actually very easy to install and the price isn't that bad at all...you can pick up a cable to hydro conversion kit for $225 from hasport

I would have just done a B16A3 because Hydro is better than cable in my opinion..........Good Luck!!

Hydro and cable both have there pros and cons, however the reason I am putting a first generation b16 in my sol is because the engine will cost me a $1000 less then a second generation

My buddy is doing the same swap on an eg civic. He picked up the kit which inlcludes the mount he needed also for 150 bucks. The swap itself shouldn't be too much of a bitch, as far as bolting in you won't need a mounting kit, if you had the single cam vtec engine wiring won't be that bad. You should also send your ecu out to get reprogrammed, you can get a spoon program for a nice upgrade and fairly cheap too.

Are you doing the swap your self??? Well, anyhow, you will need to get a new distributor...the plugs on the 1st gen b16's are tan, as where in your sol they are going to be gray. If your sol had vtec, the harness will be a piece of cake...you would just have to run one wire for the (ks) knock sensor.....that is a good idea to get your ecu reprogrammed too. Hope this helps!!

thats great...becuase i do have a sol vtec...so the wireing should be easy then...where do you think I can get a new distributor? thanks for your help

you guys always worry on hydro to cable conversion, there is a way to use you hydro pump on your cable tranny withou modding much...I did this mod for a friend of mine a few weeks ago, I´ll post pics soon

You can use a 94-95 del sol VTEC distributor...If you can't find one at a junk yard...I know Napa carries them, but they are like $360.00 from them...you can also get that matrix one that is in summits ad....maybe try www.sohfast.com I know they carry a lot of honda parts too.

I got a first gen b16 in my eg just last week.I have a 99 si tranny and a mugen e.c.u. The swap only took one and a half days.I smoked my hommies 95 ls teg.

So heres my question, will the 1st gen cable motor/tranny drop into a sol without buying a mount kit?? HASport sells mounts....for $499! It includes the cable-->hydro conversion kit but thats pretty steep.
