Jenson Button set the pace in Friday testing at Jerez. The BAR Honda driver found a great deal of time in the new 007 chassis, completing a massive 130 laps with a best time of 1:15.663s, less than a tenth faster than Alonso’s pace setting lap from Thursday. Juan Pablo Montoya was second fastest in his McLaren ahead of Michael Schumacher in his Ferrari.

Montoya, second fastest for the second day running, completed 96 laps in the new McLaren Mercedes, lapping just over half a second shy of Button’s best. Team-mate Kimi Raikkonen set the fifth fastest time in the second MP4-20.

Michael Schumacher showed that the updated 2004 Ferrari still has some good pace on it’s Bridgestone rubber as the German set the third best time, almost exactly a second slower than Button’s best lap.

David Coulthard set the fourth best time in his Red Bull Racing RB1, three places and half a second ahead of F3000 Champion Vitantonio Liuzzi in the second RB1. Mark Webber set the sixth best time in the new Williams FW27 as he conducted race simulation work. Team-mate Nick Heidfeld back in ninth position as he focused on the Michelin tyre programme.

Ricardo Zonta was eighth fastest in his 2004 Toyota ahead of Heidfeld, Ralf Schumacher in the TF105, Enrique Bernoldi and Luca Badoer.

Jordan meanwhile gave Mexican Champ Car star Mario Dominguez a brief run in the new Toyota powered EJ15 at Silverstone. While Narain Karthikeyan and Tiago Monteiro are confirmed for 2005, Dominguez is all but set for the seat come 2006 when the team is re-branded MidlandF1.

I have a good feeling that BAR, Renault and Ferrari will be somewhat equal this year. I know for sure Minardi is going to suck, whenever they staert the season.
