good read there.

Speaking at last week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates confirmed that all Xbox 2/Xenon games will support HDTV.

Speaking to Japanese paper Yomiuri Shimbun, Gates said that, “Current planning should mean we will be able to offer HDTV support across 100% of the [Xbox 2] software range. We expect to be unique in this offering.”

As you may expect, nothing on the subject has been mentioned by either Sony or Nintendo, with their home console offerings being significantly further away, though expect something to be mentioned when both firms outline their wares at this year’s E3.

they expect to be unique? hah. do they really think nintendo and sony wont do the same if he's gonna announce it so soon? lol

In a recent interview the plucky guys at Gizmodo.com managed to somehow secure (has someone in the PR department dropped the ball here or are we missing something?) Microsoft chairman Bill Gates made an impressive claim regarding the future of Xbox Live.

“We expect the penetration of Live in the next generation to be over 80%. We'll put enough value into it to make that very, very attractive for people,” said Gates.

He continued to make perhaps the most startling extra-gaming claims for the future of Xbox Live to date. “So anyway, we're investing a lot in having Live just be dramatically more. Obviously, we'll connect Xbox Live up to what we do with Messenger, so the idea that you can share music, talk to your friends, video chat with friends, voice chat, text chat—all those things between the Xbox world and the PC world—as the Xbox evolves, we'll get that going. So there's some nice connections that can take place there.”

Impressive stuff, huh? Microsoft, from the very top of the company, is now openly talking about doing all of the things it promised never to do. And seemingly, no one has noticed…
