If i were to buy just the h series long block for my civic. 92-96 H22 will any h series tranny work with that motor? or is that a certain one?

There are no sensors on the tranny that needs to be swaped. It just bolts right in no other parts or swaps needed. But i would suggest you to get VTEC tranny though, cause its geared for the powerband the Prelude VTEC's have. But any other H series tranny will work anyways like 4bidden said.

i wonder if i got the long block to swap inot my civic and then just buy the tranny at a local junkyard if i would save any money.

you can even use an accord tranny if you really wanted to just to get the car running in funds are really low.
