I am going to be doing an H22 swap and know the engine has to be the same year or newer, but I heard that JDM motors are not legal in CA. Is this true. Is there anything else I should watch out for if I am going to do a swap and want it to be smog legal???

Emissions will rape your ass if you get a JDM swap in cali.

If you find a shady shop that will accept a litle money under the table you won't have to worry at all. I do know a few people in cali have JDM swaps and they don't have any emission problems at all. Try asking in the hybrid forum for people that have practical experience with this stuff.

i think you should go to a shop you know that do swap and ask them.
