any suggestions on how to remove the damn thing?? i've tried the way the haynes manual suggested, and how the chilton manual had suggested. I've already broken two 1/2 inch wrenches and the 32mm socket (luckly craftsman has a lifetime replacement warranty) and bent my breaker bar. I really really dont' want to cut the axle and have to buy a used knuckle..

If air tools aren't an option....

Go to Sears... grab a 3/4 inch 'T' bar (it's the big one).. Grab a socket (forget the conversion.. the 3/4 don't come in Metric) and use that with a long pipe about 4 ft long (no seriously)

What you want to do, with the stock wheel still on.

put the car into 5th gear, have a buddy hold the brakes (hard) and use the 3/4 inch 'T' bar to break it loose. Be steady.. ie don't 'bounce' or 'jerk' the 'T' bar.

I had a spindle nut on an Accord break 3 1/2 inch ratchets, 2 Craftsman 1/2 inch breaker bars, 1 Snap on 1/2 inch breaker bar, then I said fuck it and bought the 3/4 inch 'T' bar and it worked like a charm.

** note... be sure the socket has a firm seat on the spindle nut.

I hate those damn nuts too. One thing I always try to do is break them loose when the car is on the ground with the wheel on that way you know it isn't going anywhere when someone's on the brake.

I got this from Sears...3/4" and it has not broken yet.

Then I put like a 4-5 foot pipe on it and push...I used run open header on my car and one time I used my catback that was laying on the garage floor...talk about a HUGE breaker bar, worked pretty good too.
