is it possilbe to fit HID's in the stock housing without major modification? what type of bulbs do they hold (ex. H4)?

If you are talking HID conversion kits yes they are easy to get into the housing you just buy the kit that of your bulb size I.E 9006 HID Kit.

yep works pretty well, I'd get d2s bulbs though, I'm not terribly happy with my d2r bulbs, there's some hotspots on the beam, but overall I can see muuuuch better at night. I just ordered a 9005 d2r kit to do my highbeams too check out http://www.autotoys.com and find their HID kits, they are the older style separate ballast and ignitor, but I just did one of my friends car with them and they work great.

passenger side are PIAA Platinum superwhites(from japan, well actually I got them in singapore) driver side is HID, the pic was taken at 2pm on a crystal clear day, the white balance is a bit off I guess because of the sun(both lights are a little more blue) but you can tell teh brightness difference.

no modification at all. the only hard part is finding a home for the ballasts.
