somewhat on a similar note...i wish i could tell you because someone is selling a similar set up: JDM headlights + bmw/mercedes HID system for a whooping 1500...can you believe that, no wonder he's been still re-newing the ad for all these months. the price is ridiculous and absurd. its the recycler for those of you that may have come across it. if he'd lower the price i'd show you in a heart beat.
I know one thing for sure. Philips doesn't make HID conversion kit for 9006.
Ballast might be made by philips but not the d2r bulb.
I just bought similar kit and ballast is phillips brand but bulb is no-name brand. Philips doesn't make d2r or d2s bulbs yet.
Stanley housing..which is factory headlight..has 9006 opening.
if you can find 9006-fit d2r HID bulbs...that's good for you but it ain't gonna last long as philips or osram sylvania brands.

phillips makes d2s and d2r bulbs. they dont make 9006 type hid bulbs. philips only makes p32d base type bulbs.
oops~!

I was half sleep when I posted that message.
Philips makes d2r and d2s bulbs.
They don't make HID bulbs that made for 9006 housing.(yeah..this is what I wanted to say).
Sorry for the confusion.
So..if you got factory headlight housing and planning buying HID kit..u probally need some mod. on the headlight.
You'll just have to go to the aftermarket vendors that are rebasing the P32D base to 9005/9006/H4/whatever. They aren't cheap as I've seen some for around $300, which isn't much cheaper than buying a whole kit. And it's hard to tell the quality of the craftsmanship because the the people who do the rebasing don't leave their name to build any reputation on. On the other hand, autolamps online has a good reputation for quality kits so you'd be in good hands getting a kit or bulbs from them. I hope that this market matures quick so that the quality of all the kits go up.
