i was just wondering if i should get a hi-flow cat for my car... i haven't installed my DC header or Apexi Worldsport yet, i was wondering if just plugging in the stock cat would hinder performance (would it justify the expense of a high-flow catalytic converter?). if you think i need/should go for one, what brand? thanks.

I got a OBX.

I think you should get the high flow cat for your car. The old one might hold back some of the power. I think the price is resemble for one. I spent a total of $65 on mine. My old one had the heat shield vibrating on me. If you have all of that aftermarket stuff. I would think of buying a new cat to match the rest of the exhaust system. I got mine off of Ebay. It is an OBX high flow cat convertor and its connected to my new Greddy Evolution system.

I hope this info helped you on a desition.

I need a header now and I am done. How much did you spend for your DC Sports header and where did you buy it from?

i got mine from landspeedracing.com for $310+shipping. i've seen the obx cats and the only thing i'm wondering about is effectiveness. random technologies and pacesetter sell high flow cats for like $150-220. The $60 one that OBX offers seems a little sketchy... i guess just so long as it passes emissions tests and helps my system breath easyier then it doesn't really matter.

Emissions shouldn't be a problem for the year of your car. They go by when the car was manufactered. Don't go for a huge cat, becasue you still need some kind of back pressure.. Get one that gonna match the size of your exhaust and headers.

Rather than make a new thread, i thought i just reply here.
I have that same set up as General Lee except on a 99 Ex, if I get a high-flo cat will I still pass emissions? Also what is a size that is too big since i still need backpressure? will that obx one work? also i wouldn't pass emission if i got like a gutted out cat?
