Lately, I've been noticing after I start my car, instead of the engine idling slightly above 1000 like it does when it needs to warm up, it will stay there for a few seconds then shoot up to 2500-3000 for a few seconds then go back to about 1000 (while in park..I'm not pressing the gas or brakes). It feels like the engine was going to stumble, and the computer diagnostics over reacts and revs it up to keep it going. It's been cold here lately (Dallas), so I don't know if my car just isn't used to having to idle so high for so long. Anyone else notice this? Could it be signaling that something might be about to go out?
Thanks for any suggestions. By the way, I have no mods, so it's nothing I added to it. It could be normal, just seeing if anyone else has experienced the same thing.

the Answer..

So I called the guy at the dealer and he said that it's called "Fast Idle" and it's totally normal in cold weather. Apparently the car is smart enough to know that if it didn't idle faster, the engine would stall. Like I said, I'm in TX and the car isn't used to this cold weather and neither am I. Thanks for the suggestions.
