what kind of benefits would a programmer like hondata give me? i dont know anything about the ecu or how to control it, but its something id like to learn about. are there pros and cons for a hondata system?
an ecu upgrade is something you do after you've reworked the WHOLE motor. what they do is remap your fuel curves. although this can be a small benefit for a basically stock motor (even w/ bolt-ons), it's a waste of time and money, imo, because it's such a small gain in power for the hundreds you have to spend for dyno-tuning it.
however, if you have a turbo and/or have changed the internals of the engine, a programmable ecu will prove to be essential to running a reliable setup and will let you tune the fuel delivery for optimal performance.
