Hooking up vtec through shift light?

814 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Mugen1182
I read an article on this and was wondering has anyone here done this. I need better instructions on it. I have a d16z6 swap out of a del sol and used the dx harness so there is no vtec. I do have a tach with a shift light though. So I was wondering how this all goes together. Any info is greatly appreciated..... I know its not the best way for vtec engagement however its only temp.
Thanks
John

You need the EX harness and ECU to get vtec in order to even use the light.
Im not using the light as a "VTEC LIGHT" Im using it as a controller when 12volts hits the light at a designated rpm the vtec solinoid will recieve the same which would activate it.... What I need to know is which wire is which on the solinoid.
Thanks
John
dont ghetto rig it, just spend the 60 bucks and buy an EX harness.

Yeah dont ghetto rig it, but if you really wanna know, its the yellow wire with the green line going through it. If its not that color, just look at the wire coming off the bottom of the solenoid.
