Has anyone upgraded to a better sounding horn? I can't stand the sound of my horn it reminds me of the road runner. Are they hard to install.
Thanx

me and my dad put air horns on my car. it was not that hard to install but i forgot how we did it.
I installed the Hella dual compressor air horn. The install was really easy if you can read a wiring diagram.

It's "hella" loud! People JUMP out of my way, it's really fun.
There is this S-10 that has airhorns on it or some kind of loud ass horns. Sounds like a trains horn :p I guess it's an airhorn, but really f**kin' loud. At the Saturday meet-ups he came rolling through and hit the horn. I was not even that close to the truck and almost pissed my pants.

I was thinking this would be a cool thing to do since I do not like my horn either.

How much did they cost you?
Where did you get them?
Do you have to take the entire dash and $hit apart to wire it to the stock button on the steering wheel?
Can I wire it into my alarms siren :D
Oh, and more thing: Is this legal?? :laff:

That's a good system. My neighbor has one. That's the one I'm going with sometime down the road.
i can't stand how my horn is so light sounding, how much $$$ would this be?

Go to rallylights.com. They carry the Hella horns.
The guys I know at Serious Auto sell some for Miata's...well...the horns are universal, but they have custom kits to wire them to the Miata.

I watched them install one on a Miata and it took them maybe 15-25 minutes.

You don't have to do any wiring inside the dash or take apart the steering wheel at all.

Although, for what I'd want, you would need to.

I'd like my normal meep-meep horn on the left button, and the big WONK!!! airhorn on the right button.

/me pulls up behind car going too slow on my favorite twisty.

/me gives a friendly meep-meep.

Car doesn't pull over.

/me gives a big WONK!!!

Car moves.

/me smiles, and floors pedal.

:)

That would be cool to have one button for each. But, I do not feel like taking the sterring wheel apart or going anywhere near the air bag for that matter!!!! I'm a rude f**k anyhow, the first beep would be that loud f**ker' :p ...just for driving in the passing lane and holding me up :)
the 2 buttons would be good, but still who would expect a loud ass horn coming from a grocery getting civic? either way it would be funny. :D
Has anyone looked into buying one

I swear this is going to be my next mod ;)

^^^See above...I already did. The Hella is insanely loud, I mounted the horns right behind my front grille and it's deafening.

Where did you get the horns and how easy are they to install? Is it just a replacement to the stock or do you have to go into the dash and $hit??

How much time are you looking at for installation?

Thanks
I think I got it at Summit for like $50 or something. You just tap into the wire that goes to the stock horn and a couple to a relay and to the battery, not to bad, I did it in like 20 min or so.

Seems simple enough :)
So, you're not even using the stock horn now, right?

I am going to look into these. Does it require a compressor or any other accessiories (sp?)?
Some riceboy honked me with his air horn. It just shook the car and I thought he was screwing with his sub. It wasn't until later that I found out it was an air horn... don't know the brand though. If I were you, forget the air horn, get a bull horn instead! Instead of "honk" your car can go "fuck you, jerkoff!" or anything else you feel like yelling.

No you won't want the stock horn after you hear the Hella. And I've hear cheap air horns from random auto parts stores that sound terrible. This sounds like the horn on a Ferarri.

It comes with the compressor and everything you need (actually I think you have to supply your own connectors, and the instructions are in German but if you can read a simple wiring diagram you're OK)> The horns are red but since I mounted them behind the grille I painted them black. If you get it and have any install Q's hit me up.
