How many miles on your teg when you replaced your Clutch?

How many miles on your teg when you replaced your Syncros?

Looks like I will probably have to do one or the other. I'm awaiting a call from the mechanic. BTW, I have 73,000 miles on my GSR.

I just changed my clutch when I got my turbo cuz the stock couldnt hold any power at all. Usually replacing or repairing synchros costs so much you're better off w/ a whole new tranny.
I got my clutch about a year ago. I think I had just over 100,000 miles on it.

I agree. It was cheaper for me.
I bought a 94 Integra gsr with 108k miles last week. Clutch according to the seller was still the orginal one and still drives FINE.....luckily for me I bought it off the older/mature driver. Only problem though is that she didn't replace the timing belt&water pump.....bummer..there goes $350.
My clutch was doing fine up to 100k but then one of the springs on the disc actually broke off inside. It was making weird noises. I am just lucky it didn't get stuck in there when I was driving.
I guess the daily two hour dose of stop and go traffic combined with my sometimes harsh driving habits have helped kill my clutch earlier than normal. Though I did purchase my car used with 35,000 miles already on it, so who knows.

Seems like most of you replaced around 100,000. Of course I still need to get a confirmation from the mechanic, I'm pretty sure it's the clutch.

Any suggestions on alternatives to an OEM GSR clutch? I only have simple bolt ons right now so clutch isn't a problem. But I do plan on a Jackson Racing supercharger in the future. Thanks!
I swapped my clutch out at about 85,000 miles....

Funny thing too....the Acura dealership I used to go to first told me that I dropped my tranny when I first brought my car to them after I was having problems getting into certain gears. They said that it would cost around $3000 to replace it all. I went and got a second opinion and they told me that it was just my clutch. After they replaced it, my car ran as if brand new....

So....a big middle finger goes to Stevens Creek Acura in San Jose, Cali....:D
I swapped out my clutch when it went bad for an ACT extreme pressure plate with organic street disk.

i kno how u feel because i've gotten shafted twice at an Acura Dealer/Service Department (Acura of Concord).

One time I went in to get a strange knocking sound checked in my engine. I left the car there and asked them to call me with the diagnosis ($95 fee). Well what do u know, they never call and two days later I call them back and they tell me they have racked up a bill in the $1,000 range. I was like, "@##@$#!!! You guys never even got my permission to begin work!"

For $2,000 I can live with the knocking sound or I could have bought a new engine almost. Phone calls go on back and forth for about a week... they still haven't fixed the problem and now my engine is in pieces. I refuse to pay the bill because they never asked (legally they have to ask first). To make a long story short I had to deal with the manager and get everything settled. I ended up paying around $300. It ended up all I needed was a simple valve adjustment. Now wouldn't you think a dealer would have thought of that BEFORE taking apart my entire engine? I guess not!

After this experience I swore I would never go back to that Acura Service center... but when my car was broken into and stripped over Christmas I had little choice because my car wouldn't even run. I figured it would be faster to to get my car running again if I went to a dealer that stocked all the parts. I was wrong again. I didn't end up getting my car back for over two weeks. I was pissed because they had ordered the parts a week before (three weeks ago).

Anyway, the point is now that I need a new clutch I'm not taking it to any Acura and especially not the one in Concord. So Gisser, I feel your pain.

Damn, ecklow, that really sucks. And your car getting stripped on Christmas.....I feel your pain.

I've been really lucky with my Integra as far as that stuff, but my girlfriend's neighbors backed into her car on Christmas and pretend that they don't know anything about it....bastards. She paid for it herself, it's just this little Plymouth Colt with $1000 of damage, and of course it's not covered by insurance. A lot of cold, stupid assholes in the world I guess.
And the verdict is... The clutch and flywheel are shot. I'm going to have to get them both replaced. The estimate is $590 for all the parts and labor. I'll probably go with OEM replacement parts bec not that much power on my car.

Any suggestions? Alternate prices of other brand clutches?
Sorry, I don't know much about trannys except that they're expensive as hell to fix. Anyway, my question is - are the synchros a part of the transmission itself and not a separate entity? Thats why it is better just to buy a whole new transmission rather than get the synchros fixed when the synchros go bad? Because new synchros come with a new tranny? How much is a new transmission for a GSR (3rd.gen)?

this happend to me around 60k, supposidely it was a defect in the metal because i was talking to a acura guy that said he sees that sort of thing all the time. kinda sucks acura doesn't want to claim responciblity for it and issue a recall.

I am kind of glad it did happen because I got a new clutch and flywheel because of it.

I would recommend looking into a ACT or Clutchmaster clutch. You can also pick up a Fidanza flywheel for pretty cheap as well.

I got my ACT clutch and Fidanza flywheel and install for less than 1000 bucks. I know it is more than 590, but it is so worth it. I wouldn't do it any other way if I had to do it again.
I Swapped mine out at 70,000. It was slipping plus i just got a turbo kit too.
