How to re-install factory keyless entry!!

Anyone know how to do this?

I have the factory keyless remotes from my 98 EX and when I sold my EX my dad installed them on the LX (there car at the time). I had an alarm put in and not using them anymore. So, I am going to ebay them and need to know how these hook-up to a new car.

I know it's nothing difficult. It's got something to do with the radio and the car has to be a LX or EX.

Any ideas?

I wonder if my Helms has this in it

Thanks!

PS <> Instructions are at the BOTTOM of THIS page :)

It's built into the radio. So, you'll need to get a radio from a Civic EX or LX. Somebody probably has one they'll sell you cheap. Plus, you'll need to get the remotes reprogrammed.

Yeah, I know it has something to do with the radio. I am going to put them on ebay since my alarm has keyless entry and I am not using either of the 2 remotes now.

I am just wondering how you re-program the remotes to a car
Sorry - I misunderstood your question. As I understand it a Honda dealer will have to reprogram the remotes to the new radio. I've heard it runs about $25. Check with a dealer. They can tell you for sure.

Yeah, I'm sure they will charge $25. It's like a 2 minute process. My dad programmed it to the LX. I'm going to ask him if he remembers how to do it.

Thanks!
Well - When you find out, let me know. Especially if your dad did it himself.

Ps - Wave on your way by Jacksonville exit 100 on 95. 95 construction is about done south of JAX. But, north of JAX is becoming a mess. Depends on how much traffic is flowing through.

Are you going to Daytona the 22nd for the show?
How bad is the construction? I am planning on going back on that Sunday like the 24th. Maybe it will be done by then. I think we're leaving at like 4 in the morning anyhow to avoid traffic and so that my brother can be back by noon.

I'll post the instrucs as soon as I find them...

Show in Daytona? I guess I missed that info. Where in Daytona?

The construction won't be done for awhile. however, if you're leaving at 4AM you shouldn't have any problems. Just drive carefully and watch the traffic in front of you. Especially between Daytona and Jax. LOTS of accidents. Though, at that time of the morning traffic should be thin.

Of course, it should only take you about 5 hours from Daytona to Savannah. Hour and a half to JAX and 2 and a half from Jax to Savannah. I'd say if you were on the road by 6AM you should be home by 11. We go to Savannah about 2 - 3 times a year. I like the area and it's a good getaway from home.

Ha! You're like the 2nd person in the FL area that did not know about this :) The other guy lives in Daytona  It's the Daytona spring break Nationals or some $hit like that. I just know it's right on the beach and heard it's a BIG show.

Savannah, is usually 4 hours from here in Orlando. 3 1/2 if I speed..... Savannah is not a place you want to live IMO. Just nothing to do. When I finish school I plan to split :)
the helms manual has the instrustions on reprograming your remote

Sure as f**k is :D:) page 23-231

I was thinking that since I have both transmitters that I can sell them individually :D:eek:;)

I wonder what these go for at the dealers? I am going to call and see what they go at!

kcallahan: Do you need the instructions right now? If not, I'll scan them and post them when I get back home in 2 weeks. If you need them now, I'll write all of it down....
let me know how that goes putting back the factory keyless, i've been wanting to do that 2 my DX for months now, just the wireing has been givin' me such fits that i've not wanted to mess with it anymore, i'm also trying to install power windows, locks, and mirrors, everythings mounted up in the drivers side, i just don't have it all connected to the fuse box, basicly i jumped into something thats way over my head and regreating it now

Here it goes:

1) Insert key into ignition switch
2) Turn the ignition switch ON (II)

within 10 seconds, go to step 3

3) Press and hold the valet switch for at least 5 seconds. (You will hear the sound of the acuators turning to unlock.) **Keeping the transmitter pointed towards the radio (6-10" or so)**

within 10 seconds, go to step 4

4) Press one of the transmitter buttons. (You will hear the sound of the acuators turning to unlock.)

NOTE: If you want to register the codes of more than one transmitter, repeat step 4 within 10 seconds with the next transmitter. (Up to 4 transmitters can be used)

5) Turn the ignition switch OFF; the process is complete :)

Will this just work for the LX and EX? What about the HX since it has power locks???

No - I don't need them right now. Just let me know when you post them or send me an e-mail.

I just checked with the local dealer. They run $65 each. And the parts guy is telling me that the HX/LX controller won't work on my EX. I'd be curious to see if the Helm's manual says anything about that.

I posted them on the first page before your post above :)

$65 :) ...so hopefully $50 a piece would be nice $50 X 2 = Reverse indiglo gauges & city lights

Anyhow, the guy is full of shit!! The 2 remotes I have were out of my 98 EX. I had an alarm w/ keyless installed on my EX and my programmed the remotes to their LX (which is my car now).

If you want. Go to the dealer and ask to see both remotes. I bet they look identical
F**kin' crooks!!
I got the procedures - Thanks. I tend not to believe parts people, except for part numbers and such. He told me the price was the same. They just had different part numbers. But, I don't know why mine would be different. I've compared mine to one of the guys at work who has an LX and they look identical.
