How to remove rear deck?

7362 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  dohctor
I'm trying to replace my 6x9's in my 2000 Honda Civic SI, can anyone quickly tell me how to remove the rear upper deck to get to the speakers. I would do a search, but this is a new board.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

you have to remove the WHOLE back paneling... everything from the driver seat back must come out, you have pins that hold everything... be careful

You sure they aren't bottom mount speakers? In my accord they just came out from underneath, no problem at all, pop them out, and throw them in the garbage.
I can't seem to figure out how to take out the side panels. I pop up the top half of the panels, but the bottom part is like stuck inbetween the wall of the car and the rear seat bottoms. Do i gotta take out seats, side panels, just to get the top panel off?
He's right, you need everything out...

I had to do this in my 2000 DX Coupe.

You need to take out EVERYTHING from the drivers seat back. You even have to remove the seat backs and all mounting hardware for them.

The 6X9's mount from the top, not the bottom.

Its a real pain in the a$$.

What a waste. With my accord they just come out from underneath. But with as much hatred for 6x9s as I have, I would just tear those things out from underneath, even if I needed a saw. they went in the garbage just the same, LOL. If you are planning on losing the rear speakers altogether, which is the best bet, just unplug them and let them stay there.
