I have spybot, adaware, and microsoft. Microsoft never finds anything, ever. But adaware and spybot always find some.

This is the perfect set up right here. First of all I know what I'm talking about. I am A+ cert. and workin on my cisco cert. First off an antivirus. Personaly I love AVG its free, works very well, and updates often. Next get both AdAware SE and spy bot S&D. Always run AdAware before or even insted of spy bot. Spy bot can cause damage to your OS. I have never heard of AdAware doing anything but good. Another good idea is to run both your antivirus and anti adware in "safe mode". This is an alternet boot option. While your computer is booting (depending on the type of computer you have) eather pres F2, F8, tab, or delete. This should give you the option to boot into "safe mode". This tells your computer to start with only the programs nesasary for your OS to run. Meaning there will be no adaware currently running making it possible to delete. Now for those of us that believe in free "stuff" IE: music, movies, pr0n ;)...ect. I have personaly tried a wide verity of programs. (warez, arez, bareshare, lime wire, limewire pro...) There are upsides and downsides of everything. With the warez it runs off the same servers as arez same network but for some reason was greatly faster but with one obviouse draw back a small but some times very annoying ad in the bottom left corner. There was no pop-ups but still very annoying. With arez there was no ads but less features and a bit slower. Bareshare straight out tells you that it will be installing adware on your computer. lol easy fix after installing just run your favored anti adware and walla gone with no effect to warebare. Now on to limewire. Well clearly Pro is better than the regular. With lime wire the only draw back I find is actualy downloading what you want. Very many hox files. Meaning viruses ads and just plane files you didnt want. Well I hope this saves a few good computers. Believe and contribute to free information. Live the hackers life. :byye

I have Windows XP and I cant find the menu to start in safe-mode. On boot up, I went to the menus available by hitting escape or delete but none of them said anything about a safe mode option. Where is this safe-mode thing hidden?

go to my computer icon and right click it. click the tab that sys system restore. I think if you turn system restore off, the spyware wont come back. Something to do with your computer restoring spyware once you reboot. Like its tricking your computer into thinking its vital programs that need to come back on.

When I was surfing the net today...

There's this icon right on my task bar... Its always saying "Your computer is infected"

when I open IE

How serious is this?

What caused this? Are there any solutions to fixing this??

Just looks like something changed your homepage and is trying to get you to download a program. Delete the icon and download adaware or microsoft antispyware and do a scan. I'd use the microsoft one since it allows you to change your homepage settings after you run your scan, or you can just do it manually.

A breif explanation: My prior roommate was a piece of shit and was going to myspace and a bunch of other gay sites, and my computer hasnt been the same sence.

I had comcast high speed put in my name and installed today, and since Ive been on ive been flooded with god damned pop ups!!!

anyway, heres the list I got off of hijack this, I need to know what to delete.

You've got a lot of tool bars there. While I recognize some of your processes, Im not a big enough geek to tell you what's bad. Im sure there might be a couple of people that can on this honda board, but you'll have better luck posting your log in a computer forum. The "hijack this" instructions should have given you some links as to where you should post the log.... Good luck
