i went to change my alternator today with a used one i got, and i got everything unbolted and what not, but i couldnt get the old one out of the engine bay. i tried taking off part of the brake master cylinder, but i stripped one of the bolts in the process. so i cleaned up the old alternator and put it back on. and now it runs fine. wtf? BEFORE, the battery light would come on when i came to a stop and it would whine. i drove it around for a while today and seemed fine. wtf? anybody got any comments? ideas?

i did my alternator change the way you did...takin out the brake master cylinder and stuff. i know theres another way to do it from under the car. since you took out the alternator you should have gotten it tested to see if it was still good......it would suck if you have to go through all the rouble at takin it out again if the battery lite goes on.

Doesn't it suck when you think that something is going to be really easy and it really isn't? I though that was the case
with my tailights when I got some replacement ones and
it was like 15 degrees out (ok im a die hard car person) and
you cant feel you fingers and then you hit em and then you
really can feel them???? LOL. Oh well, saves you money or
atleast you have an extra one.

Dude, I took my alternator off and "Shimmeed" that fucker out from the bottom too. I can't see how you had such a hard time with it....I took it out and stuck it back in twice just like Phattie's milf! :D
