Hi everybody, I just found this board.

Does anyone know if the 2003 Accord V6 will have i-VTEC or not?

I understand that all Honda engines are supposed to have this by like 2004 or 2005 or something like that (I forget). I'm in the market for a new car but I'll hold off another year if that's what it takes.

I was going to get a new Camry V6 this year but I was extremely disappointed with the new model. In fact, I can't stand it. And they didn't even put the VVT-i engine in it!! argh! Stupid Toyota.

Anyways I hope to be joining you all soon.

There's been lots of discussion but nobody really knows for sure on the V6 engine. We're all having enough trouble just figuring out which engine it will be, much less whether it will have i-VTEC or not! :laff:

The history is that the Accord V6 gets a hand-me-down engine from Acura.

95-97 Accord V6 used the Gen1 Legend C27A4 engine (170 HP)
98-02 Accord V6 has the Gen1 3.0CL J30A1 engine (200 HP)

03 AV6 possibilities? J32A1 (225 HP) from the base TL? J35A4 (240 HP) from the Odyessy/MDX? Something else? Who knows...

None of these engine have i-VTEC currently though, so I guess Honda is going to be updating them in short order to meet that target. I read the same thing too - all engines ot have i-VTEC by mid-decade or whatever it was.

I though the 98 + AV6's were the first to get the J Block then the 99 + TL's got them? But I'm thinking that if the 7th Gen Accord doesn't get i VTEC when it 1st comes out they may get it around 2005. Like the AV6 when it came out in 98 it had a distributor, then in 2000 it came with DIS....but we'll just have to wait and see.

P.S. i-VTEC V6. Your name threw me a curve ball too.... It's real similiar to mine. Cause I didn't remember starting this thread....but it's all cool!
