i need to know all the specs on a usdm 93' b17...or anybody who can vouche for this engine...give me all pros an cons...thaks for the help..myka...ps do u think this might be a goodswap for a del sol?

its the 92-93 GSR motor...160hp but a bit more torque than the B16a, basically its kinda a in between of a b18c and b16a...but its more of a b16a.

great sites devoted to the 2nd gen integra. the gsr of 92 and 93 are great. the b17 is a rare engine. hope that helps you out.

the B17 is a good motor only thing is that for some reason i see 2nd gen GSR's get beat by civics runnin b16's my friends have both one has a 93 gsr the other has a 92 civic 4dr with a b16 the race was pretty even untill 3rd gear then the civic pulled ahead by a car length, both motors werent runnin 100% but both were pretty strong. if your just lookin for a motor go for the b16 there are more parts to choose from for it and easier to to get. the b17 is rare, but if you want to build it put some higher CR pistons in it and a set of cams and u'll be runnin strong

i can bet the B16 sedan had the JDM ecu...with a higher rev limiter...
and the G2 might have higher miles being that it is a USDM car... and a 92
with the civic having a JDM motor...or newer SI B16A,,,it is more likely to have lower miles...thus is runnin better..

all of these are good points. your friend with the civic b16 must be one hell of a driver. the engine is VIRTUALLY the same. i say virtually because layman terms its basically a b16 bored out. the b16 is more accesable, as for parts the bseries is blessed with the abilities to swap parts between engines with minimal alteration. IF however you can find a 92-93 GSR complete with a b17a engine it would be quite a find and a collectable. they made a limited number of the 92 gsr because it was introduced halfway into the production year. so these guys are right. the b16 would be easier to find, less miles, and a newer engine. the b17 i would go for ONLY if you find a complete car simply because of the rarity. if you just want an engine, get yourself a b16a. have fun.

Exactly.

Anything you can put on a B16 will work on a B17 (pretty much, with a few exceptions). Hell, anything you can put on a B18C5, you can put on a B16/17, except rods and crank (generalization)!

i was driving the integ gsr g2 its not mine but im a better driver than its owner, my friend in the civic is decent as well, not it doesnt have the JDM ecu its an usdm ECU and it just pulled harder both engines arent runnin 100% like i said the b16 is burnin oil and some days its strong others its weak the b17 has a bad idle control revs up and down and its timing is way to advanced im gonna fix the b17 for him once he buys the part the guy with the civic just bought a new b16 second gen. so once both are back up to par i will let you know

I have a 92 Integra GS-R (B17A1 inside ). The engine is getting weak (180,000 hard kms) I was able to find a complete 92 Integra GS-R powertrain the day I decided I wanted to rebuild one. I must be full of shit. I think all the differences have been posted in another thread.
