Intake System on Accord EX

865 Views 14 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  BlueAccord3L
I know for a fact that the Accord EX 4cl has the SOHC vtec, that is the intake one. I am just wondering if i get a after market intake will it effect the vtec in anyway, because i was looking at my stock one the other day and i think my vtec soleniod is attached to it but i don't know. Can someone fill me with some facts about this???

Are you talking about an intake or an intake manifold?
I'm talking about the intake itself not the intake manifold..does anyone know any facts about this??
any intake will make HP and Torque differences
and especially for VTEC motors the intake give it that
extra punch and less restriction for that need for air
to get into the cylinder chambers

its 35-45% better than yoru stock restrictfull intake that you have now

its real power you can feel from the seat of your pants
I got a ex and a intake does mess anyhting up its fine i love mine
are intakes loud and stuff? im sure it give su mor epower but does it make the car rumble or loud at all?
i know most intakes will make your car louder, especially when you step on it. i know a guy with dual exhaust and the loudest thing on his car is his intake.
how loud it is depends on the filter, i started with the original weapon r foam filter, It was realy lound. Then i switched to a k&n and i rarely hear it. But it is still louder than stock
WTF?!?!?!?!

mrcenzo
"does it make it rumble..."

See less See more
the real sound is produced in the intake manifold
passing through the throttle bottle
the intake it self is just carrying the sound
so depending where you have the end of your intake
is where you will hear it louder..
cause before i had my CAI i couldnt hear it as much before i put it in cause since its expose outside the engine bay its more audible

but for all i car stick it out the front headlight like the all motor drag civic.. :)
no one seems to be answering my question. let me make it more simple. is the vtec solenoid part of the intake itself, not the manifold? Can someone even explain how vtec even works for a SOHC vtec f22 engine?
vtec solenoid is part of ur HEAD.

vtec for f22 is mainly for gas conservation. not reallie for performance. even though it does engages to conserve gas, it does give a bit more power then a non vtec f22 or f23.

VTEC solenoid is what actually activates the VTEC
without that thing , there is not packin punch in the motor

and SOHC VTEC works the same way is a DOHC VTEC
just all that the whole valve train works on one huge cam.
thanks for those of you that have answered my questions, i have one more, i was looking at my stock intake again today and i noticed that there is another tube running off the main pipe attatched to the intake manifold on the intake. it is located in the bottom of the main intake pipe off of the intake manifold. it seems to be running into another filter. if i were to get a aftermarket intake that tube will no longer work. does anyone know the purpose of that tube that is running off the bottom of the main intake pipe off the intake manifold?
