9:1 is fine you won't need as much boost to make power. if tuned correctly will be fine. the main reason people say run lower compression is for safety. you can turbo an engine with 10.5:1 compression it will make more power than the engine with a 9:1 compression with the same boost and setup. but it will need more dyno time for tuning. detonation becomes a big factor at higher compression ratios. if you want to make more power safely go with forged. it will handle more power than any cast partIts up to you, if i were you I'd get lower compression, but I'm no turbo expert. And why not get forged, never hurts.
