Yeah, sounds like water pump took a crap. Normally to be on the safe side people change the water pump at the same time as the t-belt, since it's basically all the same labor to do either one. If the gear on the pump busted, it could leak and also since it's belt driven the belt would loosen and timing would be off. There's one theory for you...

Maybe that too...normally you'd see the coolant coming from between the head/block though, instead of on the side of the engine where the pump is.
