Yes, it's called fast idle. It's kind of like a choked idle on a carburated engine. It will stay at higher rev's just to warm up the motor, after it's up to temp it will no longer idle that high.
OK WHAT DOES IT MEAN WHEN U START THE CAR IN THE MORN AND IT SHOTS UP TO 2500 RPM THEN KEEPS GOING UP TO 3000RPM THEN IT GOES TO 1800RPM AND SLOWLY DROPS DOWN TO ABOUT 1200RPM AND STAYS. WEIRD HUH.
OH AND IS IT NORMAL TO IDLE AT 1200RPM?
that has to do with the coolant temp sensor, you'll notcie this "shouldn't" happen in the summer or warmer mornings, but just when its fairly cold outside.
as for you Nitro, sounds like your car is running a little rich or you got a leak in your vacum line to your FPR
