Some people say to just pull the d/s axle and drop it out the bottom.

It *IS* possible to replace the alternator from the bottom without pulling axles or other parts. However it can be *VERY* tricky turning it just the right way to get it out.

I had mine come out with 0 problems whatsoever... Then spent the next 2hrs on my back cursing trying to figure out the magic way to put the replacement alternator back in. It came out so easy that I didn't pay attention to how it was oriented. I eventually got it turned the right way and got it in. Doable, just a bit tricky.
