Is this Prelude too cheap?

662 Views 12 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  xPrelude253x
Hey everyone I'm new to the board and was wondering if the price for this prelude is too cheap. The price for kbb says its suppose to be around $15g-19g's for a 99 type sh. But the person is trying to sell it for $12800 with around 30,000 miles!!! :D Do you guys think something is wrong with the car? Maybe I'm really lucky and found a prelude for a really good price. Opinions needed please.

Here's the ad:

maybe it was wrecked once, check the vin number
it says radio/casset..

i thought they all came with CD players???or did the earlier years have cassets??

mine: 01 lude.
NO, I'm buying it! j/k. I just saw this on autotrader, and then saw your post about it. I've been trying to find a lude, but this one looks too good to be true. Probably a salvage title or something. I'll try calling it tomorrow and see what's wrong with it. Usually 97's with high milage go for 12k+.
Hmm... It does seem kind of fishy. I think my friend saw the same ad a few of months ago but the price was around $14300. Maybe the person selling it is really rich and doesn't care how much he sells it for.;)

Coo just tell me all the info about the car when you're done talking to the person. Peace
Salvage title. I ended up calling it earlier tonight. I also remember seeing it for 14xxx and thought that was a really cheap price. I called it at like 8pm or something, and the guy called back at like 9 pm, and was like, "you call my house?" and I was like yeah, I was curious about the prelude. Anyways, it was some russian guy, and I could barely understand the guy. He told me white, 30k miles, VTECHH mo-ter :) And then I was like, so it has a clean title? and hes like, no, so I said, thanks, but no thanks.

Basically, "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". :)

So I'm still on the look for a 5th gen lude 5 spd in the seattle area. Not an easy thing to find.

My 94 h23 is for sale.. just had a crate engine with 30k miles on it put in (well, as we speak it's being done). The car is in good shape, if you're interested let me know. I'm close to your area too. :)
It sound kinda fishy..because I thouht the standard for 97+ model were CD/ radio. I haven't seen or heard or one that came with the cassette player until now
I sold my 99 lude with 35K miles on it for $12,900, and it was perfect inside and out. Where I live there was just no interest in the car, so I took what I could get, it's probably the same kinda deal that I had. No ones looking for one, and he needs to get rid of it ASAP.
Maybe it has a rebuilt title? If so, I probably might get it since I don't plan on selling it. I think I'm going to keep it as long as I live. Always wanted a prelude so I don't know.
Maybe people wernt reading my posts, but it has a SALVAGE title!!

xPrelude253x - DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! Even if your going to keep it for a long time. You have no idea how this car was put back together. I've seen 2 cars put together to make 1 car before. I'll gaurentee you it wont have anywhere near a factory paint job, since I'm sure it had/has body damage. It probably doesnt have the right seats. Might not even be factory color. Just wait for a good deal on a clean title prelude. Trust me.
yeah, I should just probably wait until I find one with a clean title.
