The JDM H22 is 200hp (non type-S) right? and the USDM is 190hp. So why not swap the USDM into the accord instead of the JDM? only 10hp difference. Would it be alot cheaper?

USDM is usually higher mileage and a bit more abused
JDM is usually lower miles
Also your #'s are skewed. The JDM puts out a bit more and the USDM puts out a lil less. Diff is due to compression of pistons and gas used.
Dont just look at hp #'s, look at tq ratings too.

*EDIT: Check the stickies dude; there is a sticky with all the Tq/hp ratings and the differences in this forum*

his numbers are right, its a claimed 10hp difference if that. I dont know what the 97+ h22 got to supposedly give it as much power as a jdm, as far as I know its still got the same specs as a pre 97. the thing is I really don't see usdm swaps for cheaper. and although they may have higher mileage, most jdm swaps don't really have 30k, and if they do then the owners knew it was going to be that way from the start, so they may have never even changed the oil.

jdm h22's mostly have lower miles than usdm as stated before, and the 97 and newer h22's are all obd2 which i understand are difficult to swap. id go with an obd1 (92-96) h22 espeacially for a 4th or 5th gen. accord-

americans put lots and lots and lots and lots of miles before the car is scrapped. the japanese hardly EVER drive cuz gas is much more expensive there (approx $3/gal from what a japanese exchange student told me two years ago). plus all the jdm motors i've gotten my hands on (probably 50+ total), only one was bad...usdm motors i've seen were already on their last legs...

i heard theres some emissions BS where they have to scrap the car or motor after 30k or 40k miles. if i was in japan and put in that situation i would drive the shit out of my car everyday.
that's you......however, the japanese are pretty frugal in general since gas is expensive over there too. they really take care of the cars and stuff.

I disagree. maybe with some cars, but someone with a prelude vtec is going to use it, or else they wouldn't have gotten the vtec model. thats if they know they are going to have it for not very many miles, which is sometimes the case. however, most complete jdm front ends I have seen including the cluster has had way over 30k. or just most jdm clusters in general. like if you go search ebay there are no live auctions for a prelude but many of the auctions have a bunch of mileage. theres a toyota with over 180,000 kilometers, a newer ctr cluster with over 65,000 kilos, a 300zx with over 100,000 kilos, a couple of civics both with over 100k, etc.
