I am going to put a monitor in my car, but I have never really been into putting car stereos and monitors in cars. I was wonder what is a good monitor for my dash.

I have a motorized 7" LCD screen. It folds out of the unit when I press a button. It's the Alpine CVA-1003. Go to their website to take a look at it. I've very happy with it, it runs my Alpine 6 disc CD changer, and I have a Playstation 2 hooked up to it. It also navigation (which I don't have). Good luck
yeah lol but what is the price on that damn thing!?
You can get them for about $650 maybe, I don't know anymore cause I bought mine about a half year ago.
Flip out probably not gonna work!

Superblue SI is looking for a lcd monitor that sits in the dash. He already did the din relocater swap and has a big hole where the stereo was. I think the hole is like 8 x 4.5 inches.

Where the hell can you get it for $650?? I mean, you can get it for that price if you got the hookups (like me... but still too much).... but how did you get it for so cheap???
If you got the hookups, then why would you assume that I don't?

sorry, I worded my post poorly... you wrote as if you could get it for $650 anywhere.... but you can't.... that's why i sounded so surprised....
MikeKid, no problem...I could have sworn that I've seen it on eBay for around that price. I could be wrong though, but for some reason that price sticks out in my mind. I spent more than that for mine, but that was half a year ago, and new models are out.
I have a Pioneer 6.5" in my DD dash spot. It fits like it was made for that spot. It MSRPs for $1300 but etronics.com has em less than half that. They are a little tricky to install.. I had to custom mount it and do a little modificatio nto the mount. I'm not completely finished, but I'll post some pictures of the install if you want.

Bring 'em on! I know I wanna see what you got going on. Might give me some ideas as well.
Allright well I'll show you what I got so far... Before I post (Is still need to take care of the pictures). Know that I am not done. I worked on it about 3 weeks ago... The interior was stripped enitirely, and I worked on it from like 11 am to 8 pm on sturday and 9 am to 1:30 am on sunday, and by then I was beat and needed a break, so I just put everyhitng back together it didn't fit right, so the NAV and DVD functions are working (I forced a trim piece in and I think it disconnected a wire harness) also because the fit wasn't perfect, the DVD player isn't flush with the trim.. it will be fixed for the most part. I also don't even have the front spekers installed right now... so all I have to listen to is the radio AM/FM and XM on the rear speakers... but the GUI that the AV master unit comes with is really cool to play around with. Allright enough I'll take some pictures to share with the family.
i thought they sold for around like 1400 for a decent one.. the ebay ones are somewhat cheap, but not very nice..

Yeah alot of those require custom housing... meaning they are absolutely bare bones...

My LCD Setup:

First: This is a close up of the setup. I chose a fixed LCD becasue I wanted somewhat of an OEM look, plus the fold-away LCDs always break. This is what I wnated and I'm really happy with the turn so far...

Second: A better view of the front console. I used the in dash CD-changer install kit for 99 EX's to put the DVD/NAV unit in. it looks good, but it isn't a perfect fit, you can see the gaps on the sides, which should get better after I relocate a few wires.:

3rd: The AV master unit. This is basically the reciever for the car... it accepts input A/V and outputs A/V, works as a Crossover, DSP, Dolby Digital Surround, GUI, Amplifier, Tuner. As you can see my trunk is a mess, The Unit is mounted on the back of the rear seat. Next to it on the other seat I'm going to mount the XM unit...right now it's just in the left hand side cubby hole.

Dohctor what are the dimensions of that spot in the dash you put the monitor?

hey thanks! Yeah I was really happy with the fit. read my sig-> 2001 Accord Coupe. I believe that any car with a double Din opening should fit the screen. I was origianlly going with the 8 inch.. but even though I didn't mind doing the cutting, it just would've looked really out of place, I wanted everything to blend, and that was the primary objective of my stereo system... It had to look like it was meant to be there... I like LCD's that flip out, but I hated them at the same time... they were always broken at any demo I'd seen (or looked very easily broken) and I just didn't want to give anyone the chance to break my 1700 head unit. I don't like bulky things, and those looked bulky to me.. not to bring down anyone else setup it's just my preference. The model of the screen is pioneer dpx-6010.. it might be something different than dpx now than I think of it but 6010 is absolutely right.

I don't know the exact dimensions of the opening, but I know that it was just slightly larger (about 1 cm on the left and right) larger than my previous Kenwood DD cd/cassette player.

Now is there anyway to have LCD screens on the front seats hide in a sense?? Like press the button and flips out flat on the back and back if you push it in or something??
