Let's get realistic People!!

After reading various responses to CompTech's AV6 SC pricing announcement on SHO, CL.Com and TL.com, i'm starting to get really annoyed at a lot of the dumas responses that are coming in. Allow me to address some of these issues

Price A lot of morons feel $4495 is way too much for a SC that "only" delivers a 50-60HP gain. But realize this power gain is all THROUGHOUT the rev band, not stuck up high where u could never see it.

Not Enough Power Most of the same morons are wondering why CompTech stuck to 6psi. These same morons need to realize CompTech was thinking about their own welfare when they did this. If CompTech made the SC run at 9-10 psi for a 100hp gain then there would most certainly be issues with the transmission's TC, fuel delivery, spark advance, parasitic loss blah blah blah. I'm sure CompTech could easily engineer a 9psi SC but they know a lot of idiots would not heed the warnings, slap it on their motor, blow the tranny, blow the motor and then file a lawsuit against Honda/Acura and CompTech. Going back to pricing, if you're too cheap to pay 4495 for the SC (which requires NOTHINg extra) then what makes you think you will pay more if the SC gave 100hp and you needed tranny build, new fuel rail, new injectors etc etc.

Long Delay Be patient!~ CompTech isn't sitting on their asses with 1000 SC's ready to be shipped out. If all R&D on the AV6 unit is done there still has to be a production run, quality control testing, dealer notifications, advertising, etc etc. Superchargers don't get hatched from chickens!!!

Bottom Line: Speed Costs Money! How fast do you want to go!

It's still too much money for so little gain. Being realistic, our cars are not fast, we'll never hit 11s like domestics. Supercharger makes it faster, will put a stock car in the high 13's MAYBE, but for that timeslip, definitely not worth it.
We should also keep in mind that Comptech did not produce the SC just for the Accord. They will go into the TL, CL, TL-S, CL-S, & might even fit in the 7th Gen. Accord. For $4500 i think it will be well worth the money. If you want just a fast time slip forget about getting it. If you want something that (with proper care and maintenance) will last and keep you up some SPORTS cars, then it is well worth it.

Our Accords might not be the fastest, but look at a CL-S: 260hp + 50-60 hp from the SC= 310-320hp
All of you just need to stop b*tching and just be happy that someone is making SOMETHING for our car. If you don't want to shell out the cash then GOOD for you!! Have a cookie!! Take two if you want! Where else are you going to get that kind of gain across the powerband??? Lets see....try NOWHERE...and lets not bring up NAWS

I know of a few. And there are probably a bunch from the TL/CL boards too. And then probably a ton more people that don't happen to browse these forums.
I think I'm gonna have to jump on this Bandwagon with Mikey!

TRD's SC puts a 5 speed Solora or Camry around mid 14's (14.3-14.7) in the 1/4 mile with no other bolt ons (Maybe a K&N drop in filter) depending on the driver. This is based off my personal experiences at the track where a friend of a friend had his car. You can also go to www.camryman.org and check for yourself.

Why is CompTech's SC pooh pooh but yet TRD's is fine? (Not sure what a TRD SC goes for but I'd bet money its over $4k)

HP, doesn't grow on trees, and everyone expects this magic mod to come out which gives them 13 second 1/4 mile times and only costs $2-3k.

If you are running mid 14's on the street, you aren't going to beat every car, but you are sure as hell ain't going to get "smoked" by many cars. If I'm pulling a nose on a GT auto, or car length behind a GT 5spd, who's the one that's gonna feel stupid? Me in my Family Sedan or the guy in Mustang who barely stayed ahead of my Family Sedan?

As far as other imports go, Type-R's, GSR's, Preludes (Even modified to some extent) will not be of much concern in a street race.

LOL, see the CompTech SC update thread...

I've already emailed Auto Car Parts and asked to purchase the first CompTech SC they receive. :)

Now granted, I will not be the first person to INSTALL it, but I will be one of the first few to buy it. :)

I've been bitching and moaning for a SC for YEARS now, so I'm not gonna back out now that's its time to put my money where my mouth was.

I need to find that old post on CompTech where everyone posted saying they wanted a SC for the Accord. :D
my personal reasons:
- My other priorities in my life supercede having a fast car.
- I am not rich like L.I. Accord
- My tranny will blow, resulting in $5K+ of damage + labor. Not to mention lost time from work and other things
- I don't have a second car
- I don't want to fill up my gas tank every few days like I'm driving a Viper. This is my daily driver.
- Shops in the midwest area are not competent enough for such install.
- Costs way too much.
- I have better things to do than be the first one out the traffic lights while I'm in traffic.

I admire BNut and V6MoMoney, and the rest who want to get the SC. But having to own this car for over 4 years, I realize this is the WRONG CAR to mod for power. I am doing myself a favor by keeping the Accord as a grocery getter, also at the same time, keep its maintenance free reputation.

I will be, I already have $7k set aside for the SC, TC, and Misc. Stuff.

Sadly enough the TRD super can be picked up for $2700 or so
http://www.toyotaparts4u.com/solara_&_camry_supercharger.htm

and it's a much easier installation than comptechs. And smaller pullies are readily available for it.

one of my friends has a supered solara with I think a 2.4" pulley netting him 8lbs boost and over 320hp and 350lb-ft at the crank. He's had some headwork done, but that damn thing is FAST. he best ever has been a 13.8 on 18"s and a 13.31 after borrowing someones stockies with 555Rs on them

oh I found their pulley chart 3.2" pulley is stock with 276hp 271lb-ft. 7psi pulley needs fuel upgrades. anthing over it's best if you get some headwork and get your ECU tuned.

Gas milage was mentioned, but that's only if you drive like a maniac, the thing I've noticed with several people that have supered their cars is better gas milage because you don't have to step on the pedal as hard to get going as fast.

amen.
it take's alot of power to propel a 3,300lb car with a slippery and mushy auto tranny. not to mention the less than ideal tranny and final drive ratio's. jesus this car weigh's more than a vette(if im correct) this is why i went turbo . the comptech supercharger is great but you cant expect to much . as big as comptech is there not as big as trd and cant blow up a dozen engine's to r&d a supercharger(trd has much deeper pocket's)stop the whining and if you want it get it !!and if you cant afford it dont .HAVING A MODIFIED CAR IS NOT FOR PEOPLE ON WELFARE,STUDENT'S(unless your parent's are picking up the tab) OR PEOPLE IN THE LOWER INCOME BRACKET'S!!!!!!!!!! this is a FACT!!!!!!
Bring on the supercharger! I know its a lot of money, but I've been waiting for this thing for a long long time.

It is expensive but at least we got one!
I 'll have the check the compatibility issue with this supercharger.

If I decided to buy CL-S 6speed or 7gen Accord.......will my supercharger be transferable.

you know after you purchased the supercharger, selling a used one will most likely depreciate around 50% of the MSRP.

There is also issue of control, driving a 300whps FF, may not be the smartest way to mod your car, going straight in a fast speed is one thing....... can your car handle such high horsepower?

make sure you have done full handling performance mod, braking mod, before you start thinking of getting a supercharger.

once you have supercharger, u might want to change your exhaust to a full thicker cat-back.
-Torque convertor, whats good to have fast car, when u have 2second lag on your feet? and also worry about gas mileage, maintenance, tranny care.
I am pretty much sure, once you get supercharger, you don't want to drive like crazy everyday, mostly you 'll have to drive like a NOS setup(going WOT once a day) .

Comptech has invested lots of money and time bring SC for us, 4500k U.S. is alot of money, for that you could of just upgrade your car to TL-S or CL-S with better interior, 60hps more over us.

and remember CL-S 6speed with I/H/E and chipped = Accord V6 I/H/E Supercharged. This is just something that I have been thinking about.

Illusion,

I stand corrected. :) Thanks for the info. :)
