I noticed that since I installed my DVD burner, my comp. takes much longer to bootup. Here is my bootup process: I have a gateway so when my comp. boots, a gateway image will appear for like half a sec(use to be longer), it then quickly moves to a blank screen with a blinking underscore and stays at this screen for about 30 seconds, after this it finally moves to the Windows XP screen which takes about 10-20 seconds and then XP loads. Anyone know why it takes this long, especially at the blank underscore screen(wtf is this???) Is this fixable?

yes you can fix it by going to the device manager, go to the IDE controllers and make sure you disable all the secondary drives that you don't need from the primary and secondary channel.

Also make sure your burner is on cable select (jumper settings) and on the correct channel ( probably slave on primary or secondary channel)
