LS ecu in a DX

Hey everyone, I don't know if anyone's done this but I plan to try it out to see if it works. I got a 98 DX hatch, and I'm going to pick up a 98 LS ecu and pop it in there to see if it'll run with no CELs. Since there's no VTEC, knock sensor or anything in either of them I'm thinking it should be OK.

I know you can swap the old ones, like the 1g Teg with the 4g Civic Si. If you've done it let me know, or if you have definite proof it won't work please tell why. No speculation, actual proof.

if you dont have any major mods done to your motor i dont think you're gonna benefit from the ls ecu. if anything your car will run very rich.
i used a gsr ecu for my sohc vtec for couple of days and the gas mileage was very very bad. the motor lost a lot of power in the top end because the gsr ecu was dumping more fuel than my sohc vtec could take. but otherwise it was fine. it idled good, revved to 8200rpm (i know its crazy for an internally stock d16y8) but it held up for quite a few days of abuse.
Yeah, I wondered if it would be rich or what. I was thinking it would compensate to lean out the mixture when the O2 sensor sent back a reading saying it was too rich, but I guess you can't assume that...

Well, I am planning a Y8 head swap w/RPM vtec switch and a Gude cam, so that ought to give me the crank hp of an LS stock and then the mix would be OK, except maybe at low RPM it may be too rich still? Don't know! If I can find one cheap enough I might just try it anyways.

The Y8 I've heard can be run stock to 7800 no problems as long as the rev limiter will let you get there. That's why it did OK with the GSR ecu. Unfortunately for me teh LS has the same rev limiter as my DX so that's not going to help me much with the Y8 head, especially with a hi-po cam.
why not wait until you get the ex head, and just use an ex ecu?

and your point is....????
it still runs mint, doesnt smoke, i never have to add oil bettween oil changes, and i put on more than 25k miles since i did that gsr ecu thing and guess what it still runs fine. i take it autoxing about three times a month, and i drag race it about once a month on the track.

25k miles my ass dude, you just said you used it for a couple of days. And don't say you meant months or 25 miles or something stupid like that. Don't gotta lie to kick it man.
Ok nevermind I just understood what you meant to say. Damn I feel dumb. I retract my previous statement.
the fuel maps are very different from the ls and sohc ecu's.. thuis making everything run rich as helllll

you are correct. first day i had ran it with the gsr ecu i put about 50 miles on it. and it took a lil more than 1/2 of gas tank.
you could tell it was running rich because it was slower than with the sohc ecu, the exhaust and rear bumper were black, i felt it at the gas pump.
lol must have been dumping some black smoke out! should have put a spark plug in the exhaust and that puppy would have shot some flames lol.
