LS engine?

I'd say get an LS engine and turbo it.
What is LS engine? Is it from Integra LS? I thought LS was lowest trim of Integra. Isn't GSR engine better for tuning?

the LS engine is the 2nd highest trim on the integra line. depending on how you want to modify the LS engine,if u go force induction the LS engine will be better than goin with the GSR engine. but if all motor the GSR will be better.
Yup. The LS engine is from the Integra LS. And yes, it's low trim. Still, the engine is cheap and puts out more HP and TQ than your standard Civic engine. The GSR engine is better but costs much more. The LS Engine runs as low as $800 while a GSR engine runs about $5,000. Many people get the LS Engine and turbo it because it has lower compression than a GSR engine, making it easier to turbo.
The B18B(LS engine) is a great engine to turbocharge because of the lower compression ratio and the fact that the bottom end is fairly strong(considering its stock). The rod stroke is also desirable if you are looking into turbocharging.

ya, but how much is a turbo for that engine?

I have a 97 dx... I don't know the engine name/type, but is it a direct drop? or will I have to change the tranny too?
I don't know but you'd probably want to replace the tranny anyway. The turbo kit will probably cost $1500-$2000.

you can get a turbo for around $2500 for that motor.
you will have to change more than the engine itself.
you will also need an integra tranny, axels, shift linkage,
ECU. motor mounts.

Try:

To get a basic idea of what kind of prices you are looking at. You want to order the COMPLETE CHANGEOVER(parts listed in post above mine). The turbo kit will probally be around $3,000. Thats for the turbo, manifold, downpipe, intercooler, sequential wastegate, blow-off valve, piping, hoses, etc.

http://www.optauto.com

^^^ They have decent prices and setups. Once you get there click on ENGINE, Then TURBO, thenTURBO KITS then HONDA.
Good luck.

YES, you'll have to change the transmission.. You have a D series engine.. the LS motor (b18b) is a B series.. B series is not compatible with D series.. Everything has to go.. You'll need the axles, ecu, motor, trans, shift linkage, ect..

GSR (b18c1) motors do not cost $5000.. You can get a legit complete GSR swap for roughly $3300

A turbo for an LS (b18b) is not going to cost $1500-$2000 either.. I'd say for a good complete kit (i.e. Drag, Rev-Hard, F-MAX, ect), it'll cost you about $3000-$3500 brand new..
instead of dropping 2Gs on an engine and 3Gs on a turbo get a beast, thats right a H22A. The engine will run you about 3500 and if you can't install that shit yourself then it will probably run you a G to get it popped in.

i wish there was a place that could do an H22 swap
for $4500 including instalation.
but thats never the case. usually the H22 swap will run you
more than the typer swap and your car will never be the same
and you wont be able to return your car back to stock conditions.

LS is the 2nd trim, but i heard that you can get more power from the ls and gsr, especially when going turbo.

I will refer you to this post
H22 Myth

and to this image

now it may not be $4500, but it is cheaper to get a 22 as opposed to a c5.
