I got my wife a 97 Ls, and was thinking about doing the frank on it, but has anyone had experience with it and a reprogrammed ECU for the Auto?

I keep hearing people say GSR auto, I know hear in America we don't have one, so how would I go about getting one from where ever they are made?

I think that the auto GSR's were specially made for people in Japan, its weird. Just like the 4 door Type R somewhere in Australia, or so I hear.

So back to the original question, has any one done a LS?VTEC Frank to an auto? I want my wife to have a quick car, and i don't think I could have a turbo in her ride and not mine. Would it be cheaper though to go turbo than to frank? Does anyone know?

It's got to be possible.

possible, yes... how? don't know the specifics. i would put a t3/t4 on her ls and just keep the boost down. or maybe a jrsc? not that as much power, but very driveable. the frank is very expensive if done right.. if not done right, it's very unreliable

have ever looked at levelten trannies and torque convertors. those thing can handle the power a ls/vtec puts down. just go to the site and look around levelten.com. its pretty expensive though, but if its what you want then more power to you. just make sure get ur ls/vtec done right.

i have

yeah I've heard of an LS/VTEC auto. At a local shop by my house they did it to this guys integra. The guy at the shop was telling me that it was pretty damn fast for an auto but he said it was probably going to go through a lot of torque converters. He also said that the guy was going to have to shift it manually because his transmission was stock. Unless you upgrade your tranny it's going to go to hell with LS/VTEC, also I've never heard of LS/VTEC being reliable. I f you want reliability I wouldn't waste by time with it. I'd say go turbo, or get a different drivetrain.

it won't be that much faster because with a vtec head you need short gears to take advtange of the high rpm power. if you turbo it you can run 12-14 psi on stock internals if tuned carefully. it'll give you ~250 hp.

Nah I couldn't have her rollin with a turbo and not have one myself. Maybe I'll get an auto lude vtec for her ride. I would switch over her car, but she don't like 5 speed's. Maybe I'll suck it up and let her roll a turbo, it'll probably be cheaper.
